Giants: Post Draft State of the OL
These last several years they've had a Top 2 +3 a Top 3+2 and a Top 4+1 -- where someone was often playing out of position - like Richburg last year.
I suspect this year's starters from lef to right will be Beatty, Pugh, Richburg, Schwartz, Flowers. I think Pugh will be the LG and Flowers will be the RT. Of course, they might reverse that, but I think they see Pro-Bowl upside as soon as next year with Pugh at LG. He could be another Seubert or Snee as a Guard who can win, and pull. I also like the idea of having Richburg between two veterans during his first year at C.
That could be a really good line, once it gels, and if Flowers is ready -- which I strongly suspect he will be. Flowers is naturally gifted and also wants to be great. I've noticed most of the guys I've seen who wanted to be great started out with that attitude. He already hates losing and acknowledges the current deficiencies in his game, which are really just some foot stuff and hand placement things. So, I think he'll be ready to play and play pretty well right off the bat.
This is all very good news for the Giants. What, they don't currently have is a Top 6. I'm not a fan of any of their backup tackles at this point - unless it's Pugh - and then I'm not really a fan of their back up guards. What would be ideal would be for them to find a way to get La'el Collins - provided he's cleared. That would solve things for a long time.
Aside from that, they have to hope Bobby Hart and some of the younger vets make some progress. Not really sure if Brett Jones is anything other than a C, btw. But the more veteran veteran depth is bad news, and will hault the running game if they need to play.
We'll see if a 6th or 6th and 7th can emerge between now and the season and that's the best problem we've had on the OL in years.

If La'el Collins is cleared after meeting with police tomorrow, he will sign a FA contract. There will a lot of interest.

This could be the difference between a very good OL, but vulnerable to injury, and a potentially great one with depth.
Mel Kiper is a dope, not because he gave the Giants' draft a B-, but the reasons why.
They reached in Rounds 1 and 5.
I'm not expert, not even close, but from everything I have read, and it's a lot, Flowers seems like a very reasonable pick.
As for Round 5, that may be a reach, but it's Round 5!
Look, Reese has drafted poorly over his tenure as GM, and he deserves considerable skepticism, but Kiper's reasoning is deserving of an F.
