Yanks Opening Day on the Farm

Okay, now it gets real.  Today, the Riverdogs, Tampa Yanks, Thunder and Railriders get rolling.  Unfortunately, they're all pretty much playing at the same time, so we can't do sequential listenings or watchings.  That said, it's a good day.

Brian Mitchell who's been touching 100 on the gun and still has that monster curve will be starting for Scranton.  Severino is not starting for Trenton, instead Miguel Sulbaran will go - seems like they're giving Severino some extra time as he is pitching last through the first rotation.    Brady Lail is starting for Tampa, so we'll have to wait for Clarkin.   Jordan Foley is getting the start for Charleston. Foley's an interesting guy, the Yanks drafted him twice, first out of HS then last year.   He's a power guy with some moxie, and may not be in Charleston very long.

Not sure of the lineups yet but it will be interesting to see whether Avalino or Jorge Mateo gets the start at short for Charleston.  Let's hope Slade and Refs stay for Scranton, and that loaded Trenton squad gets off to a hot start.  Tampa lineup could be a little transitional to start...  Charleston should be pretty good, but we could really use a hot start by Katoh.

Should be a fun day.   Best of luck to all the players.

This is why I hope whatever happens in NY forces them to go young. I'm not sure what that is with this incompetent managerial group, but whether it means winning or losing every game, that's what I want, because the ML roster is somewhere on the continuum from average to suck.

The system could use a fast start by the teams in aggregate. After losing a few guys to TJ surgery, let's also hope for good health in general.

A-Rod batting 2nd.

I'll give Joey G. credit. He realizes that with a lineup this bad, A-Rod is probably a top two or three hitter, and he isn't letting negative history prevent him from doing the smart thing.

On another topic, all the college hoops players are declaring, so the Knicks just have to lose and hope for a non-sucky luck of the draw.

Lail K'd 2 but gave up a couple of ground ball singles in the bottom of the first. Switching to Charleston soon.

Lail has 7 K's through 3 scoreless.

Call them all up because the big club is embarrassingly bad. Even a good GM can't fix it at this point and they don't have one of those anyway.

Charleston is trying to grind but the umps aren't letting them.

Lail struck out 9 over 5 shutout innings and got the win for Tampa. Nice kid who could really elevate this year.

Wtf is Girardi doing-- why is he pinch hitting with Drew over Gardner or Jones - unbelievable

He'll even McCann is a better option than Drew.. Tex is swinging the bat better but Beltran looks terrible - Osuna just threw 3 straight fastballs past him
