Giants Draft Pt.2: Trading Down

Getting ready for this year's draft, it's pretty clear that this will be a draft of almost entirely - and right now I think entirely - red chip prospects.  In othere words, there are no apparently transcendant talents with the possible exception of USC's DT/DE Leonard Williams, and even he has tweener questions - though his value might be elevated by the things JJ Watt has been doing at two or more positions.

That's said, the the talent is really solid, but pretty flat.  In other words, you can get the same quality of player at 9 as you can get at 41 and maybe deeper.   So, all that being the apparent case, a trade down for more picks would make a lot of sense for the Giants, who are sitting at #9 but missing a player that's clearly worth the #9 pick.

So, I'd like to see the Giants trade down a bit, while picking up an extra 2nd or more.   In this particular draft, I'm interested in fixing the OL, adding speed at WR and RB,  helping the run d and pass rush, and finding a safety.

Peat winds up on the ground too often.

Just as an aside, since you follow college football so much closer than I do, is Wintson, character aside, a blue chip?

They say he comes off the ball too tall . A problem that can be corrected. Peat has a huge frame and thick legs and they say can hold more weight then his listed 315.Add in he's a Jr. and I'd roll the dice.
