Yanks Have Interest in Chris Young

So, the reporters are saying that the Yanks and Chris Young are working on a new deal.  Oh, goody.   Why pay extra for a 4th OF type when a healthy Ramon Flores could easily have handled the job at a basement price.   It's almost starting to smell like they liked last year's 84 win team, and are willing to spend more to keep it together.  No diggity.

This highlights the problem with the organization's philosophy on filling out the non-guaranteed roster spots. Instead of giving a young guy with possible upside a shot, they instead go with broken-down vets, journeymen and (for lack of a better description) manager's pets.

This happens with the NY Rangers, too.

This is unbelievable if true

I hope that his overall performance last year drives down his asking price. It's not inconceivable that he would be happy with one year to redeem himself, whereas the Yankees would be looking for a one-year spare part. But I also agree that they would do better by giving a shot to someone like Flores.
