Eric Chavez Rejoins Yanks as Special Assignment Scout

The latest move in the Yanks slow offseason organizational rollout, features hiring Eric Chavez as a special assignment scout.   Chavez wants to stay in baseball and it's a good first job. In other news, they're going to talk to Raul Ibanez about the vacant hitting coach job.   Still hope they hire two as Hinske or Shelton could still become available given what should be the Cubs fall out.

Good for him. Hope he can blossom into a valuable asset for the Yankees.

On the BA rankings, I saw where Bird was listed as No. 4. Hope he can take over for Teixeira sooner rather than later.

It's whether or not they let them, more than whether or not they can.

If Cashman wants to start rebuilding his reputation, at least with me*, he should tell his veterans like Tex that playing time depends solely on performance not contract-size. Two more years of him at the most important offensive position is chilling.

He also has the worst possible manager as a partner, but that's on him.

*I realize this might not be a priority

We know they're qualifying Robertson, but who else? They don't especially have many candidates. They're probably try to work out a multi-year deal with DRob for an AAV that is under the q.
