Yanks Make Bullpen Move

Yanks today sent Jose Ramirez down to SWB, where hopefully, he can stay sharp with regular work, and called up Jim Miller.  Miller was not on the 40 so they moved CC to the 60 Man DL to make space.  This means another move will have to be made when CC gets back around 7/11.

I agree with some people at LoHud. Heyman tweeting that Severino is a young Pedro smacks of a Cashman inspired pump and dump.

I don't think they'll trade Severino or Clarkin.

If this is just a move for a fresh arm and Ramirez is back soon, then it's not a big deal.

But it reeks of Girardi saying "I don't trust him," and thus, not allowing him regular work. But you would trust Miller or Huff? When Ramirez has great stuff and could be a future set-up man? UGH. Following this team is so frustrating, because it could be so great, and yet it's so mediocre.

They are killing Betances and Warren, and hardly using Robertson. How does that make sense?

I think they would trade anyone to make a buck this year.

Btw, the old "next Pedro" remark was made by Omar Minaya of the Expos about Javy Vazquez. Yanks haven't pumped anyone that way.

My point about pumping is that Heyman's m.o. is to do the bidding of people who feed him info. Usually its Boras. but he has done it for GMs too.

Obviously, my hunch could be spurious. I hope it is. We'll know by the end of the month.

But contrast the current version of Cashman to the one years ago who used to say publicly that he would never hurt the long-term health of the franchise with short-sighted trades.

Now, it's like, yeah, I will overpay. Just call me and we'll rock and roll.

I agree that he's changed and that's disconcerting.

I think he watched teams like the San Francisco Giants win a couple of World Series on the backs of their pitching and became obsessed with that aspect of the team, to the detriment of the offense.

The problem with that is two-fold: One, the Giants had decent offenses both years they won it all; and, two, he certainly hasn't been able to construct an A+ rotation despite that desire.

I had thought they needed two bats. Now, I'm thinking three.

And please, I don't know if Beltran needs major or minor surgery on his elbow, but to keep trotting him out there is kind of insane.
