Yanks Select LHP Relief Ace Jacob Lindgren at 55

I cannot tell what the strategy is, yet, but I love this pick.   Lindgren is a lefty who was switched to relief which unlocked 95 and a killer slider.   He's 5'11 and 205 so he's a bulldog.  Almost like a lefty version for DRob, but with the slider instead of the sick curve.  He struck out 93 in 51 innings for the Mississippi State Bulldogs this season.  He had an .88 ERA. Sick.   He could move quickly, and hopefully, they train him as a two inning reliever if he can maintain the stuff.

The Yanks have been kicking ass drafting college relievers for the past few years, and this makes a lot of sense, since he won't break their budget but will give us the impact lefty reliever that we've needed for so long.   No more hiring Thorntons!

Yanks have 39 more picks starting tomorrow when a theme should emerge.

Given that the one thing the Yankees are good at, development-wise, is relievers, I like the pick.

So the interminable search for the white whale may finally be over?

We don't have to sign anymore crappy lefty relievers. Webb is already in AA and is bigger, but doesn't throw hard, but he's good, too.

I definitely prefer hard throwers to crafty lefties.

This guy has like Steve Howe stuff, as long as he does;t have the other stuff, too. You get him going with Betances, Ramirez, Burawa and the other hard throwing righties and you have a lock down bullpen.
