Knicks Draft Tonight

Okay, the draft starts in about 30 minutes, and the Knicks currently have the 34th and 51 picks.   They don't yet have a first, but that could change and things seem fluid.    Phil Jackson just chatted with the media and said that teams have been calling about roster players.   He also said yesterday's trade had been in the works for weeks, and that he had both told Melo about it ahead of time, as well as wanted to do it so start changing the culture.   He says he likes the way Calderon organizes a team, pushes the ball and shoots.  In other words, how he plays the game.

Which brings us to what kind of players I want the Knicks to pick up.   Even thought everything has changed, I still want guys who know how to play the game, over guys why are just great athletes.   NBA teams, more than football teams, and way more than hockey teams and baseball teams in the top 10 rounds, go for athleticism over knowing how to play.   And because of that, good players, who know how to shoot, pass, space, play D, set picks, etc. should be available to us at 34 and 51 and obviously, also if we get back up into the first.

I'd love to see them come away with 2, 3, or even 4 guys who know how to play and can easily leard the Triangle.   Let's go, Knicks!
