Yanks: Chase Whitley Starts Tonight
The Yanks drafted Chase Whitley as a reliever a few years ago. They've found great value in drafting college relievers, over the past several years, and Chase looked like another one. He doesn't have the Burawa velocity, but he was plugging along with his plus change up and he might have become a middle reliever for the Yanks or a trade piece. Then, last year, they decided to give him some starts - and his stuff played up. Usually it's the other way around with pitchers, but it seems like, once he became a starter he added more pitches to his arsenal. This is his first full year as a starter and he's been our best guy in AAA. Not only does he have a bugs bunny change up, but his sinker, slider and cutter all produce grounders. So, what he's become is an extreme ground ball pitcher with K's and an out pitch. Not bad. Maybe he can give us some starts while everyone is DL'd.

Nuno definitely doesn't have the stuff to be a starter, and maybe not even a ML reliever.
I think Phelps will be fine as a 4th/5th starter.
So if Whitley can be credible for a month, that would be great.
I fear that the GM will trade Sanchez or Murphy for a starter, which will likely suck.
Yes, that would. Signing McCann to block them sort of sucks, too.
Wow, I hadn't seen this before I posted:

Dear Hal,
Your problem is your incompetent GM.
Thanks.
P.S. Pitching doesn't win and it's incredibly fragile. Build a better offense. And whatever you do, the team is TOO DAMN OLD as is.
