Could Take the Giants a Little While to Fill Out the Staff

The overhaul of the Giants offensive coaching staff that started weeks ago with Kevin Gilbride's retirement, then continued yesterday with the hiring of Ben McAdoo, and today with the firing of coaches Ingram and Pope, may take a while to complete.   Here's why, all the Giants have to offer perspective coaches right now are position jobs.   With new head coaches being hired daily around the league, some of the coaches the Giants may be looking to add, could still want to see if coordinator spots are open before settling for a position coaching gig.

Having said that, I think the Giants will probably move Kevin Gilbride Jr. from WR's to TE's, where he's coached at other levels, and move coach Ryan from QB's either back to WR's or to RB's where he has also coached at other levels.   So, though the vacancies right now are at RB and TE, I think the new coaches will be asked to coach QB and either WR or RB, with Gilbride and Ryan used to fill in the vacant roles.

Furthermore, I'm not sure they're done. If they really are switching to more of a zone blocking scheme, they might want to replace Coach Flaherty - whose units have been injured AND underachieved through the past 3 regular seasons (including our last title).    They might even want someone who's from the school of Gibbs or McNally.  So that's something to keep an eye on.   I think it will be a while till they are all set on the coaching staff.
