Josh Johnson: Should the Yanks Bite?
It's just been announced that Toronto is not giving Josh Johnson a QO. So, with the Yankees needing more than Tanaka to add to their rotation, should they take a look. The fact that there will be no draft pick compensation makes him more attractive but whether they should bite is completely dependent on his medicals. He looked like a great power pitcher a few years ago, and if they think he can be that again, they should pursue. Obviously if the Jays won't QO him he's not worth that kind of money, so the Yanks would have to see him as a lottery ticket, to a degree, and see how low they can go. Otherwise, there are better ways to spend money, that also don't involve sacrificing picks.

Only if it's a 1 year deal, low base, with incentives. His injury history is not pretty, and tyeing up major $$$$$$ from the 189 cap in a high-injury risk - pitcher is not the way to go.
