Yanks Re-Sign Jeter to Begin Offseason Plan
So the Yanks today re-signed Derek Jeter for 12 million dollars. Due to the ridiculous rules of MLB accounting, Jeter would have cost the Yankees 14 million or more against the Yankee aimed luxury tax if he had activated his 9.5 million dollar player option. I think it has something to do with size of salary cuts Anyway, the Yanks have made their first move.
The key move of course, will be to get Tanaka. Second to that will be to add and not lose draft picks. I have a feeling that they're going to screw that part up again, though.

i agree Phil they will lose draft picks. There is too much tempation out there for them not to. Tanaka is a must. I know we have been linked to just about every F/A. Why do i get the feeling that we will wind up signing more then just Tanaka and Cano.. If Hal is going to go above 189 it wont be by a couple of million.
The fact that the front office is debating whether or not to give Granderson a qualifying offer is very disturbing, especially in light of that fact that we don't know for sure whether or not Jeter's new contracts helps or hurts the quest to $189M. Doesn't bode well for the decision-making thought process going forward.
Yup that's scary.
