Apparently feeling better from the finger he hurt agains the Mets, Javy Vazquez picked up where he left off there against the O's tonight. He pitched 7 innings of 1 run ball, using all of his pitches and K'ing 7. He got in a bases loaded jam in the 7th as he tired and lost some command, but he got out of it. And he had to be that good since Brian Matusz of the Orioles was equally tough. He surrendered a homer to Granderson, then didn't allow much else, and anymore runs till he was out of the game in the 7th. The Yanks were fortunate to add two more on an error by the Orioles. Joba pitched a scoreless, hitless 8th and even hit 98 on the gun. Interesting. Mo worked around a hit in the 9th to record the save. Phil Hughes throws tomorrow and Posada may return. Go Yanks!

Cashman's much maligned offseason suddenly looks a little better.
Just got to be grateful and have faith.
I do in Granderson, and mostly in Cash, although he has some blind spots, but Vazquez may struggle with consistency all season.
But maybe he won't. Maybe he'll settle into this groove and give us quality start after quality start. Remember, tonight he looked just like he did before he hurt his finger against the Mets.
