Waufle Out

Mike Waufle, the highle regarded DL coach of the Giants has been fired. He was the one guy on the defense I thought was safe. I guess none of them are. Romeo Crennel may be the leading candidate for the DC job, though Fewell is still coming in tomorrow and Pepper Johnson has also shown interest in the position. I'm not too confident in how this is shaping up.

Phil if Waufle was let go and he was the least of the issues, would that not lead you to think the entire staff is gone? Esp if they want to offer to Fewell, you would think they want him to hire his own staff..

Why not keep all the position coaches until a DC is hired and let him decide?

I thought the entire staff but Wauffle would be gone, so I'm surprised to see him go before the others.

I fear that they made progress with Romeo today, and that Romeo wants to bring in Pepper or someone.

Phil

Can you expand on why you don't like Romeo/Pepper?

Rich,

Cause the only success they've had has been under the Bills, with the bulk of it coming in the 3-4 D.

We don't have the players for a 3-4D, and we shouldn't waste time with them while our SB window is still open.

Make sense?

Phil let's hope for the best and it is Fewell, Romeo is a re-tread, and if TC hangs his hat on him, then TC may not have a job this time next year.

Right, I forgot about the 3-4 aspect, which is big.

That wouldn't make sense given their personnel, especially since their DEs are on the small side, although I guess at least one would become an OLB.

but it would still take seasons...

Which, if one reads between the lines of John Mara's recent comments, Coughlin hasn't got.

So what could his thought process be?
