Cust for DH?

Kevin Rozell over at Zell's Pinstriped Blog is reporting that the Yanks are showing interest in Jack Cust. Now, Cust was non-tendered the other day, but is a lefty home run hitter who takes a lot of walks. He strikes out a ton, too, but still maintains a good OBP. While I'd prefer Nick Johnson, Cust could hit 40 jacks playing his homegames at NYS rather than out in Oakland. So he'd be a nice move, too. Go Yanks!

IMO, if they sign Cust, it signals that the budget is more stringent than we would hope and that they are looking for perceived bargains. I would think it also means that Holliday is out.

Cust's OPS+ was 105 last season (although his two seasons before that were impressive). His defense is well below average.

I hope this report is false.

we'll see.

I think they are loaded up for a run at Holliday.

Olney is reporting that Damon has told associates that if an offer isn't for $13m per, he isn't interested in listening. He also claims that he has a four year $13m per year offer on the table. No, seriously.

He is projected to be a 1.7 WAR player this season. That would make him worth around $7.6m.

I am so sick of his defensively declining, agented-up butt.

I don't want him back at any price.

Clearly, that's Boras's exit strategy for Damon, and our entry strategy for Holliday.

Lets get Cust to protect Arod.

He would hit 40 bombs easily in YS.
