Boldin?

So, the hot rumor these days is that Anquan Boldin has fired Drew Rosenhaus and signed with Tom Condon because he wants to get himself traded to the Giants. Tom Condon is the agent for Eli, Tom Coughlin and some other Giants. Of course, the question on the Giant end is, what the trade will cost and what the new deal will cost. Boldin is still in his prime but getting close to 30. Aside from his diva act over the new deal in Arizona, he is known as a real football player and would be a good influence and not a distraction for the kid receivers on the Giants. On the other hand, do the Giants really need him? I don't know. They have a lot of potential with the kids they have, and the passing game might become too Boldin-centric if he became part of it. We'll see. Go Giants!

I just got back from Atlantis great time if you have the chance to go if you have never been there. I saw about this on ESPN and was waiting to get back to hear your thoughts on this.. Hiring Condon seems like the right move if he wants to be a Giant, as it appears Reese has no love lost for Rosenhaus these days

We do know that Eli has wanted a #1, and in the Pro-Bowl he looked real sweet throwing to Anquan. I think getting Boldin would put many Giant's fans mind at ease. If he is willing to play ball with the contract, I'd take him in a sec, as you said he is a football player and he one of the tougher guys in the league. I think he would have a good influence on the rooks.

Michael, I agree with you if the price is right. Boldin is a tough dude who will help the rooks. Two concerns for me:

1. the cost in salary, players, draft picks

2. Phil's point on becoming Boldin-centric. I believe Eli has a tendency to get comfortable with one receiver and lock in. We have seen it plenty with Plax. I have also noticed it when he was hot with Toomer. This often leads to him forcing it into coverage. This is much more an Eli issue than whether we should bring Boldin aboard, but I would like to see Eli getting better at checking down the way Tom Brady and Peyton succeed.
