Andy On the Way
It looks like Andy Pettitte's dream of pitching in the new stadium is going to come true. According to several sources, the Yanks and the Hendricks brothers are deep in talks that could return Andy to the Yankees as soon as this afternoon. Now, while it would have been exciting to see Hughes in the rotation this year, it is probably better that we go into the season with only Joba needing his innings limited among the starters. Andy will potentially give the Yanks 200 innings and really take pressure off of the bullpen and Joba. We still might see Hughes or other young pitchers in the rotation at some point, but we go into the season only having to spot Joba. The deal apparently features a 6M base and another 6M in incentives. In general, this was probably handled the way Cashman would have preferred handling Mo and Po last year before Hank blinked, and what we can expect for re-signs going forward. Go Yanks.
UPDATE: Andy has officially signed. Now let's fix the bench.
