Yanks Meet With Sheets and CC

The Winter Meetings are undway, and so far today, we know that the Yankees have had a second meeting with CC Sabathia at his request and have also met with his Brewer teammate, Ben Sheets. The initial meeting with Sabathia apparently went well enough for CC and possibly his wife, to formulate other questions for the Yanks. This is good. Second meetings are almost always good.

The interesting news is that they also met with Ben Sheets. The Yanks have been after Ben Sheets for years, and now may be able to get him at a discount. The reason why they might swing a discount is that he is hurt all the time. When healthy and able to pitch he's a bulldog who's been a bit better than AJ Burnett. The problem is, he may not be healthy now, so that's got to be entered into any equation for years and value. If the Yanks determine that he can pitch, they might be able to get him on a 2 year deal with a high AAV, ant that plus a 1 year deal of Andy wouldn't back up the pipeline like multi year deals for AJ Burnett or Derek Lowe would. Hopefully more info will start leaking out soon, as various reports also say that the Yanks are getting ready to offer Burnett 4/64M. Go Cash.

UPDATE: Various sources say the Yanks may be getting ready to offer Sheets a 2yr/30M deal.

I do, too.

Sounds like we may be making a big push for AJ Burnett tonight/tomorrow.

4 year deal I can live with, not 5. I rather take Sheets on a two year deal if given my choice. If we wind up with AJ CC and a bat I could live with that also though it's not the preferred route as AJ for that many years worries me.

It would be good as long as he's healthy.
