Yanks Right the Ship

Pettitte held the small ballin' Angels to 1 run over 7 innings, Joba surrounded a hit with 3K's in the 8th and Mo came in and gave up a run in the 9th, during the Yanks 8-2 win over the Angels tonight. They finally hit some liners that landed. BTW, there is nothing like watching Mike Scioscia, the biggest jackass in baseball (yes, he tops Schilling) lose, and of course nothing like seeing Joba pitch. I know Edwar had a rough night last night, but between Edwar and Joba they have faced Vlad 3 times and K'd Vlad 3 times. That's outstanding. The Yanks have an offday on Thursday and the hope here is that Villone won't be on the roster Friday. They'll have a spot on the 40 if they DFA him, and that spot could be filled by Stephen White or Scott Patterson if they're still lacking enthusiasm for Britton and Bruney. Get some rest, then GO YANKS!

Who is Scott Patterson?

I was wishing we could get Ian Kennedy up here to take Mussina's spot but I have read he is at his IP limit for the season.

Patterson is a lights out reliever in his mid 20's in AA. He's got great numbers and touches 98. I think we got him from the Indy leagues like Edwar.

Phil is there a realistic chance Villone will be DFA'd?

Of course, all he does is hurt the team.

He has made giving up runs an art form. I wonder why we have not seen Britton up here yet. Kay was talking about skipping Moose on Monday going w Andy, but said they wont b/c they want Andy to start vs Boston. He also said past Monday there are no guarantees for Moose.

Bring up Patterson! Is Steve White any good?

If and when Villone is gone 3/4 of the mission will be complete.
