Trade Winds

Okay, Konerko is supposedly the hot Yankee target, which rather than John Garland, explains the presence of White Sox personnel at Yankee chain games this week. If he's cheap a la Areu last year, fine. He's an upgrade over Phillips and Shelley Duncan, though just a little above average OBP guy. He might walk more in the Yankee context. The pursuit of Wilson Betemit is also apparently continuing. One rumor has Cano on the move should we land Betemit. Of course, trading Cano for anything less than a superstar would be absolutely idiotic. Not hearing anything about the `pen. Let's hope nothing like that comes to pass. Go Yanks!

White Sox need a 2B so would Cano be involved in a deal for Konerko?

Betemit at 2B? That would be intriguing depending on what we give up.

We need to secure a 3B now just incase A-Rod bolts after the season. We should try to pry LaRoche from the Dodgers along with Betemit.

Perhaps someone like Damon would be involved in a deal for Konerko?

That would make sense since Guillen said recently he needs more speed and they obviously need a CF'er who can bat leadoff.

Gammons said this morning on ESPN Radio that we were talking to Houston about Qualls and Wheeler.

Cano wouldn't go for Konerko. I assume he'd only go for an under thirty superstar. And Cano fits neither of those criteria.

As for Betemit at second, I think he'd kill us on double plays.

I find it hard to believe that Cano will be dealt.

I don't believe it. It would be really stupid unless Miguel Cabrera was coming back.

I would think Florida would want more then that too. Where would Cabrera play now? Is he any good at 1st? I can see Konerko coming as an Abreu type move from last year. Just seems too far fetched to make this major of a shakeup at this time of the season.

obviously it wouldn't be just Cano if the target was Cabrera.

I do think we will make a move or two, and am curious as to what Dan means by we will be surprised, and I hope it's not surprised in a bad way..

He thinks Cano could be traded.

Ut oh. As stated above Cano better bring back a Cabrera type player no one over 30. I am really curious as to what has Cash even thinking about trading Cano...

I don't think Cano will be traded. There's no one on the trade market worth Cano. So while whoever it is could be telling Dan we don't like Cano and we're gonna trade him, there has to be something to trade him for and their isn't.

I doubt hes traded, im just letting u guys know what i hear....but unless Cano Shapens up his attitude i dont see him a yankee next year

At 9:53 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I agree with you. I do not see anyone worth Cano that would be available. Is the Konerko talk legit from what you can tell? For the right cost I would make the move. I get the sense something will happen for us on the trade front.

Dan, all the latest articles are that he's Mr. Hard work, and we're seeing it in is walks and ab's. He's back to being a great player and they'd be plum nuts to trade him.

Konerko should be "cheap" in terms of talent, but he has, I think 3 years left on his deal...

Konerko is locked up through 2010 at $12m per

well more walks than strikeouts all of a sudden don't lie. And as you know I know some of the people who have done the stories and watched the work.

Yanks are also hot for Lidge

At 11:17 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I had mentioned that a few weeks back Dan, that Lidge would be someone I target. I think he would excel as our 8th inning guy.

At 11:21 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I agree it's time to let Strahan move on.

At 11:37 AM, Blogger Michael said...

According to Garafolo Reese has not ruled out bringing Simeon Rice in.

At 11:39 AM, Blogger Michael said...

Dan do you expect any trades for the Yanks or just talk?

At 11:39 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'll start a Giants thread. Got keep baseball, football, hockey and hoops separate.

At 11:40 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yea i expect in the end we will have Reliever, i think Lidge and Wigginton

At 11:45 AM, Blogger Michael said...

I apologize Phil, I dont want to confuse either, just wanted to post it as it was breaking news.

Thank you Dan. If we got Lidge and Wigginton those are moves that I would be more comfortable with us making, rather then the blockbuster.

is there any real motivationn for the chisox to trade konerko other than money? hes under contract long term and as far as i can tell they have no one waiting to step in.

At 3:07 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I think it's just money.

Beat me to it Dan :) Gagne or Lidge in our pen makes Proctor expendable and makes our pen that much better.
