Sent Down!

Look who's all bundled up and heading to Scranton! Oddly, the Yanks have called up Chris Basak to fill Igawa's roll on the 25 man roster. Actually, maybe he's a better pitcher. That's a joke. I expect them to get Igawa straightened out down there. It's not like he has a bad arm.

UPDATE: According to Michael Kay and Buster Olney, Kei Igawa is on the block and has a good chance of being traded! It would be nice if the Yanks could get some young prospects back to defray the cost, but getting him out of the way is the first step in clearing the way for the sea of youngsters who'll be coming up starting next week.

Michael Kay on ESPN radio just said that Buster Olney told him that teams are calling us about Igawa's availability.

Kay was surprised too when he said it. I cannot believe who would want him after his recent outings. Could he be fixed possibly, the fact that team(s) would be interested surprises me.

My guess is that it's the other teams that bid on him and that they see something in his mechanics they think can be easily fixed.

Olney on Sportscenter just said he thinks its a very good chance Igawa will get dealt. He said he does not think he will be with the Yankees long and that they realize this is a Contreras type situation. Olney said the same thing as you that other teams have good scouting reports on him and think he can be fixed.

I know, I just added that.

Cool. I hope Olney is proven to be right with his report. As I mentioned on the Yankee board I did not think he had a future as a starter here with our youth on the way.
