Trade Strahan?

There's no buzz about this, but if the right offer came along, maybe a late 1, high 2 and stuff, it would absolutely make sense to deal Strahan. The Giants need all the picks they can get and would gain valuable cap room by passing on the opportunity to pay Strahan millions and millions to decline - he's already missed major parts of 2 of the last three years. Let's deal him now, if the right offer comes along.

Good Morning! I had mentioned this yesterday and I in favor of the idea.

How serious are we on the Bly sweepstakes?

you have me very interested with the Giants news comment in the Rangers thread...

I don't know. It would be a bad idea with all of our needs to spend picks on a 30 year old DB. I don't want to mortgage the future to save TC.

broncos are looking for a DE, they might trade a 2nd rounder

Do you see a possible fit with Denver and Strahan?

I must have missed it, but why did the Giants re-do Omaha's(Eli's favorite audible) contract? It now seems he gobbled up the cap room.

I agree no need to mortgage the future for TC whom likely wont be hear this time next year.

Denver just lost out on a bidding war for Kearny, I'm sure they would want Strahan very badly. The question is, could the Giant weather the pr trouble that trading Strahan could invite. I don't really seey why not, since the place is already solde out for next year...

If they make a deal that makes sense I do not see why the media would give them issues? If you trade him to Denver he is not going to harm us unless we make it to the SB which we likely wont. I think if anything the media would think it's a bold move, one that would surely cement Reese's younger and faster mantra. At this point Strahan is better served as a situational pass rusher for a team that is close to the title.

McGahee was just traded to the Ravens for picks.

2 3rd's and a 7th! We need to be sellers in this market!

At 9:27 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree!!! From what you are hearing is that even a remote possibility that we would be sellers and trade Strahan amongst others? I personally think its a solid way to go on many levels.

I hear we have been talking trade but I haven't heard that Strahan is involved.

The only reason I think he might be moved is that meeting he had with the Giants last week.

It makes perfect sense to me to trade him now as it is a sellers market and we are not ready to win just yet...

Do you like the talks you are hearing for trade potentially? If you had to guess what would the likelihood of a deal happening be. I for one would not mind them trading Strahan as it also helps improve locker room chemistry. This would be a BOLD move by Mr. Reese.

I only want trades, where at the end of them we end up with more picks in the draft.

At 1:43 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Don't really have a gut feeling on that yet.

At 2:34 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

apparently, no one has made a sufficient offer for any of our players, including 92.

At 3:14 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Is that likely to change? Will we be able to find other offers including for 92?

At 4:51 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I don't know. But in 4 hours we will be 1 week into FA and we won't have made a move.

At 5:25 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

So the latest buzz is that Reese may have rubbed some agents the wrong way...

At 5:51 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

how's that

At 6:03 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

he may be coming across as a hardass who won't compromise and isn't willing to play the game.

btw, I am hearing rumblings about some news tomorrow. Don't know what it is, but the rumblings have started.

At 8:08 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Rumblings?? Hmm I wonder what they could be. I hope its more then the Ian Scott and Reese revelations from the other day which are greatly appreciated. I am hoping for some trades.

At 8:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If that is the case with Reese my first thought is good that he does not cave in, as we have a history of over-paying. At the same time he should not be so hard as to turn of potential targets. Vacchiano thinks that the Giants are using restraint for next season and beyond rather then overpaying for talent they do not think is worth it.

At 8:25 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'll keep saying it, they should be sellers.
