Giants Tonight!

As mentioned last night, and finally just leaked, Shaun O'Hara is back with the Giants. Terms have just been reached apparently. Now, as soon as FA starts, we are looking for 2 big splashes and 1 smaller splash. Let's talk Giants here tonight!

Good call with O'Hara the O'Hara news. Let's keep the momentum going Reese ie Clements and June would be nice

At 7:12 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

It'll probably be Clements or Hood, and June or Thomas or Banta-Cain. Though, things are really fluid tonight.

At 7:20 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I like what I am hearing. Personally I am hoping for Clements as he is what we sorely need a shut down corner. Are we still in on Thomas? Some reports have him going to 49ers.. Should we expect these tonight?

At 7:22 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I don't know if we're still in on Thomas. I'd sort of favor Banta-Cain cause he's so much younger... I've consistently heard two big splashes and 1 smaller one right out of the shoot, but remember these things are fluid and the best laid plans of mice and Maras sometimes go astray...

At 7:26 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

clements and hood are two different players

At 7:32 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree on Banta-Cain as that goes with the whole Reese mo of younger and faster, if it's BC I would hardly be upset. I am cautiously optimistic on things can go awry in a moments notice as we have seen in previous years. I am hoping with Reese running the show we wont have a situation where someone visits and leaves without a deal, which seemed to happen quite often under EA. Less then two hours to go the excitement is building!!!

At 7:35 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yup, 90 minutues till magic time.

At 7:35 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well Done....as always....

At 7:38 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Excellent Blog I agre!! Inside football is reporting that Dominic Rhodes is scheduled to visit tomorrow. I like it.

Some over at BBI are intimating that Hood will be a Giant if so does that rule out Clements?

At 7:42 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'm not a big fan of Dominic Rhodes. His ypc the last two years has been way down, and that's still a good line. Pluse, I was hoping for a more dynamic complement to Jacobs.

At 7:44 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Garafolo reports O'Hara's deal to be

5 yrs, $19 million with a $7.5 million signing bonus. 12 mil the first 3 years not all guaranteed.

not a bad deal imo

At 7:45 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Not bad at all. That's less than reporters were reporting.

At 7:48 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I personally rather have McGahee over Rhodes especially with his recent off-field issues. Willis seems to love playing in the Meadowlands. I like that Reese is exploring all options, and having Rhodes visit. That said I think that Jacobs and Rhodes are too similar in style and prefer Willis(only if the price is right no first day picks).

At 7:57 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Tim Carter/4th round pick for Willis...any truth to that

At 7:58 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'm sure there is.

At 8:04 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

sign me up for that right now!! We can all chip in for Carter's airfare :)

At 8:42 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

20 minutes and counting!!!

At 8:44 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yup. three years ago, we almost landed Coleman and Haggans on the first night, only to have them leave on Ernie. Our plan tonight is to add 2 or maybe 3, let's see if Reese can get them to stay.

At 8:46 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

they're already at the stadium

At 8:46 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I know! And they already might have had steaks!

At 8:48 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

that was more of a question, but steaks are key

At 8:50 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Who is at the stadium? Please say Clements :)

At 8:50 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I don't know. Seems like he was invited a lot of places.

At 8:58 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let's hope they finished dessert and are talking numbers :)

At 8:59 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

if they're there tonight, the Giants and their agents have talked enough numbers for this to be their first stop.

At 9:04 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Here we go! It's all legal now!!!!

At 9:04 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

let the games begin!!

At 9:05 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

there are lots of people at the stadium I have just been told.

At 9:05 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I hope its the first last and only stop for those whom may be there

At 9:06 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Very very exciting lots of people there lets hope they are the people we want and they leave with their names on the dotted line.

At 9:10 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I love this stuff....

At 9:11 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

the initial push is supposedly for Clements, but I don't know if he's there.

At 9:15 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

thank you for the updates very much appreciated. If he is not there I suggest Reese gives him several millions of reasons to be.

At 9:23 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

things are busy over there and about to take off. Sorry for the lack of specifics.

At 9:25 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

no need to apologize for the lack of specifics, I am thrilled for getting the updates that we are. It is making staying up worth it. I am watching the 3rd period of Kings Ducks to pass the time. Keep the info coming :)

At 9:28 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Gene?

Things are definitely busy, and lips are tighter than usual, but we could get something in the next little while.

At 9:28 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yea no need to apologize, your nice enough to give us info, so thank you

At 9:33 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

The Giants might have some RB's in.

At 9:38 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

excellent!!! Thank you for the continual updates!! The lips being tighter is a definite good sign..

At 9:40 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yup, in the past, we pretty much knew who was there, now we just have some vague ideas, but we should know more sooner or later this evening.

At 9:40 PM, Blogger Rich said...

I just hope that if they get close to having an agreement that they don't let the player leave without signing it.

At 9:42 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

you mean eastern morning time

At 9:44 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Reese will sort of be judged here in his first FA dealings on whether he can keep the ones we want from leaving. Ernie was not much of a closer.

At 9:46 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Reese comes across as very poised and no nonsense. I hope he is the same way behind the camera as he is in front of it.

At 9:47 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

lately Reese has been talking too fast on camera. He'll get used to it.

At 9:50 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Reese will be looking to make a statement right away. He is strictly no nonsense and will do whatever he thinks is right for the team. He also is not a very patient man. If you do not produce or are always injured....you will not stay a Giant long. Which is what this team has sorely needed

At 9:57 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The fact that Nate Clements hasn't been mentioned yet (neither have the big LB's) could be a good sign....meaning that they are entrenched somewhere. I hope that Reese has his hooks in him (and Tully-Cain or June) already.

At 9:58 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Reese was quick on the draw at the Combine...But he gets a pass from me.....so far....

At 9:58 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Yup. Waiting for the puffs of smoke over Giant Central.

At 9:59 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

This Guy is gonna be good....You can see it....

At 9:59 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

what do you mean quick on the draw? Just how fast he was talking?

At 10:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let's hope they are big clouds of smoke

At 10:00 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Still expecting 2 big puffs and 1 smaller one.

At 10:03 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Reese will be just fine.....he has big plans. He will want to start off on the right foot and I can guarantee he is working extremely hard tonight.

At 10:04 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

No doubt about it.

At 10:06 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If this is true that the Browns have been negotiating with Clements, I have no doubts Reese can show him that that Giants have MUCH more to offer.

At 10:07 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I think he got and offer from Clevelend then shopped it to the Giants and others.

At 10:08 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The learning curve is short...

At 10:09 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Y27 over at BBI notes that Kawika Mitchell and Kevin Curtis are off the grid...

At 10:09 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

He also points out that they are Condon clients like Coughlin and Eli.

At 10:10 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Could they be in the hizzy?

At 10:10 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree, Clements is shopping offers around big time right now...especially with the Giants and other contenders. Like Reese said though....he will offer Nate an offer he cant refuse. He will have an agreement with someone tonight I believe.

At 10:11 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Not sure, what do we know about Mitchell. Also, would Curtis work in our system and be worth the effort?

At 10:12 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'm still expecting 2 or 3 agreements right out of the chute.

At 10:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let's hope Reese makes Nate an offer he can't refuse

At 10:12 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

they're both good players we could use, though Curtis is ideally a 3 just like Sinorice is...

At 10:13 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I like Mitchell a lot.

At 10:14 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree...there is efinitely something major things in the works right now. It is all just a matter of time until we find out.

At 10:15 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yeah, it used to be much easier to find out. Coughlin year 1 we knew everyone who was over there.

At 10:15 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

damn, I can't type tonight----so much going on, lol.

At 10:18 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If given the choice would you prefer Mitchell or Banta-Cain?

At 10:19 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Maybe Mitchell...

btw, no news from other teams is good news for us right now, cause we know we're on the job.

At 10:20 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

damn that is definitely a tough one...I probably like Mitchell just a bit more.

At 10:23 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

A late night at the office for Reese for sure. Let's hope it all pays off soon.

At 10:31 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Garafalo reports that Rhodes, Hood and Lewis will visit today. I would consider any of them or all of them a failure. Though I would, I suppose trust Spags on the utility of Hood and Lewis.

At 10:34 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Smoke screens....Rhodes is being used to "adjust" the Bills asking price for McGahee in my opinion. Hood may be used to put pressure on Clements to sign on the dotted line. Michael Lewis is being brought in just in case Wilson gets stolen away from us (even though we will still get another safety eventually)

At 10:35 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I hope Wilson doesn't get stolen away, he should flourish under Spags.

At 10:36 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree about Wilson....he will be a force back there.

At 10:38 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Leonard Davis and Brians Simmons are also Garafalo's list of likely targets...

At 10:38 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If the Giants were to pick up Leonard Davis as well, that would be huge.

At 10:39 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yeah, he is huge. I don't know if that's what they are working on now, though.

At 10:48 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Jason Whittle signed with Buffalo, hello, Mouse McNally!

At 10:55 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

i heard sleep is overrated and taking 4 red bulls is good for you at 2 am

At 10:55 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

It's not even 11 out here and I'm tired from all the sports today...

At 11:07 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Clements agent is really working the phone tonight. I bet he is on a flight somewhere as we speak. If he isn't already somewhere.

At 11:08 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'm starting to get annoyed about all of the slow player who've been mentioned as coming in.

At 11:12 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

usually about half of the people that get mentioned as coming in actually make it there. A lot of it is just show to initiate activity.

At 11:13 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I know, but we have a team speed issue, and so far no one fast has been listed as a visitor.

At 11:34 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

talks between lenoard davis and cowboys heating up but also agent talking to two other NFC East Teams

At 11:34 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

one of them is us.

At 11:43 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

clements talking to browns/titans per clayton

At 11:44 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Hood is really slow.

At 11:47 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

He's reporting the 9ers are also in on Clements. Thomas to visit the 9ers, also.

At 11:49 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

giants always settle for 2nd tier guys

At 11:50 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

It's gonna be bad if they sign a bunch of slow guys.

At 11:52 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

for once this damn team has to show a player the money

At 11:56 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

http://tinyurl.com/32vuoe

this is Paul Schwartz's Giant FA article for Friday. Now, he is buddies with Hanlon and since Neil Best stepped away, he is the one who tends to get the Giants party line. Anyway, what he has to say is not encouraging.

At 11:58 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

it should really shock us giant fans

At 11:59 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Reese has a chance to improve the team right now, and he needs to get that part of his job done.

At 12:18 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

so tomorrow is just rhodes coming in, or do we have more visits just not announced yet

At 12:21 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

when Friday was written it meant or could mean as soon as 12:01. Hood and Lewis were also mentioned, I think. I really hope we don't end up settling for the Colts' and Eagles' trash...

At 12:23 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

i wish Reese will wake up and realize he is the GM of the Giants and make a bold move that will help this franchise

At 12:24 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

yup, he needs to make some strong moves during this period of time, and then he needs to have a monster draft.

At 12:24 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

question on the draft for you, Giants are up and both Jarrett and Ginn are on the board would you draft one of them or would you trade down, just your opinon

At 12:25 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

I'd take Jarrett or trade down.

At 4:54 AM, Blogger FatMan in Charlotte said...

I don't mind strong moves, I just don't want stupid moves. I'd take Leonard Davis as a stong move, and June, or MaGahee as stupid moves. One is not a good player and the other is a head case.

At 6:52 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Good Morning everyone

Fatman do we have a shot at Clements or will we wind up being used?

At 7:02 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

BigBlue I hope you are right with your smokescreens comment.

At 7:39 AM, Blogger FatMan in Charlotte said...

I don't know about Clements. I'm as in the dark as anyone else on personnel matters.

At 7:48 AM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

Let's use the Dominic Rhodes thread.
