Meet the New Boss Same as the Old Boss
And I'm not talking about that fraud Tom Couhglin. These owners are exactly as bad at the football game as the last generation of owners were. This organization is terminally reactive, never proactive.
This is the same mentality that brought Reeves back in `96. It's the same group think that brought Fassel back after the San Francisco meltdown. It's the same organizational idiocy that blew up our cap by resigning Rodney Hampton - a back they knew did not train and had been ridiculously overused. This is the same foolishness that tried to replace David Meggett with Hershel Walker. The same bunch of jiveasses who won't pay top dollars for assistant coaches - but who now expect us to believe that exchanging a few cheap assistants for other cheap assistants will fix the head coach.
This organization, top to bottom has NO ACCOUNTABILITY. Coughlin was not held accountable for his failure, and the owners believe they can escape accountability for this contemptible move, just like their dad's always seemed to. This is a team that has contempt for its players and its fans.
Well, I hope we don't take this lying down. I hope we don't get fooled again.

Phil-what do you think happened?
here's my guess...
The Giants were/are interested in a name HC, someone like Weis, Bill Belichick, Bill Cower or Jeff Fischer…maybe even Pete Carroll. A coordinator was too much of an unknown for them, especially given the NYC media.
We know Cower is taking a year off…Fischer saved his job because Vince Young became unstoppable…Belichick is still active and who knows if he is even really interested…and Weis probably doesn’t want to leave ND only after two years.
So with no one who they deem worthy, they are going with the status quo…
Also, I think that the Mara's think that a new coach automatically equals a lost year…and with Strahan and Toomer getting on, they don’t want a lost year.
Fact of the matter is, they need a new play caller and new d coordinator…
But who comes for what is basically a one year audition?
These are the big questions. How did this happen and how can we save Eli and 2007 now that it has happened.
You Think Reese will be GM or you think we go outside candidate
I think for some reason it won't be Reese.
You think Pioli is really out of the picture i dont
yeah, I think he is out.
You Think Jim Mora Jr is gonna get HC or DC Job next year or you think hes gonna take a year off and if he does take a DC job do you think he'll have interest in Giants DC Job and if we would have interest in him
he's not a really good dc. I don't know what his plans are next year.
Who you hoping for then
Someone great, but it will probably be Dom Capers as soon as Miami lets him know he won't be head coach.
I Know Capers has same defense as lewis but i think he would do a much better job then TL, but thats not to hard to do

I agree. You're anonymous but I think you would do a much better job than Lewis.
NYT:
John Mara, the team president, and Jonathan Tisch, the treasurer — whose families co-own the franchise — were considering firing Coach Tom Coughlin and spinning the Giants on a different course.
Coughlin, ever pragmatic and focused, viewed the meetings as typical end-of-season discussions, his annual chance to bullet-point the ways in which he planned to improve the team.
In the end, everyone saw things the same way: The 2006 season was not good enough, and Coughlin provides the best chance to make the 2007 Giants better.

Ugh.
