Save the Giants, Save My Laundry!

Here's the deal, a little fun while we wait for hopefully good news about our surprisingly moribund team. The season is over and I have a LOT of Giants gear ready for the laundry. Literally a pile. So here's the deal: the Giants get rid of these coaches, the stuff gets washed! The Giants announce that these coaches are staying, ths stuff gets tossed!

uh oh. http://www.nypost.com/seven/01092007/sports/giants/coughlin_in_limbo_as_many_long_for_change_giants_paul_schwartz.htm Paul Schwartx gets a lot of his stuff straight from Giants Central and he seems to think they are gonna fick off the fans, and waste another year of Eli's career by bringing back Coughlin. Is there no end to humliation they will heap upon themslves?

Phil-
looks like we have two scenarios playing out in the Giants camp...not surprising since we have 2 owners. on one side, it looks like you got folks who are willing to waste 2007 in the hope that BB comes free next year. on the other, you have Reese as GM and PC as coach with some personnel input. not sure if i like either option. do you think PC can be the guy?

Big blog problems today. I'd say right now they are either giving him a situation to resign over (firing his coaches) or they are no different than the previous generation and will reward failure with more work and a throw away year. See Reeves 1996 and Fassel 2003.

Wellington Mara may have been a wonderful man, but he was a horrible owner. But for being forced to hire George Young, he was probably even worse than the Dolans.

Ironically, as good as George Young was for the franchise in the '80s, he was primarily responsible for their prolonged mediocrity in the '90s, and Mara enabled that debacle through the end of Young's tenure.

It would be beyond pathetic if John Mara is similarly incompetent.

Sam Ryan (looking very good) on Ch.2 said that sources say that Coughlin will be retained, but who knows?

This could still end in his resignation, but I think we're screwed.

The back page of Wednesday's Daily News states that: "Giants call time." I can't read the sentence under it.

Phil-what do you think happened?
here's my guess...
The Giants were/are interested in a name HC, someone like Weis, Bill Belichick, Bill Cower or Jeff Fischer…maybe even Pete Carroll. A coordinator was too much of an unknown for them, especially given the NYC media.

We know Cower is taking a year off…Fischer saved his job because Vince Young became unstoppable…Belichick is still active and who knows if he is even really interested…and Weis probably doesn’t want to leave ND only after two years.

So with no one who they deem worthy, they are going with the status quo…

Also, I think that the Mara's think that a new coach automatically equals a lost year…and with Strahan and Toomer getting on, they don’t want a lost year.

Fact of the matter is, they need a new play caller and new d coordinator…
But who comes for what is basically a one year audition?
