Yankee Young Hitters Update

With the addition of Juan Miranda, it's time to once again update the top ten minor league hitters I am most excited about. This is for all of you, but especially King's Dad.

1. Jose Tabata
2. Jesus Montero
3. Gerardo Rodriguez
4. Carlos Urena
5. Eric Duncan
6. Juan Miranda
7. Prylis Cuello
8. Abraham Almonte
9. Zolio Almonte
10. Jose Pirela

Jimmy Paredes and Josue Calzado are out of the top ten for now. One to keep a lookout for once the season starts is Alberto Acosta, he's a teen who's supposed to have Montero-like power.

The Juan Miranda pic is from PinstripesPlus, the pay site I'm always pimping.

You are the man Phil. Love the blog and the Yankee news. That's some nice sticks in the top ten.

They really do have a big collection of potential impact bats, but many are just teenagers. Miranda gives us a 23 year old who's close to being ready and who reminds the Yanks of Carlos Delgado.

Carlos Delgado doesn't sign for $2m

But, still like it

What's up with Montero?

Nothing. They changed the way he hits to keep his head down through the zone instead of raising it as he uppercuts. He is 16 and adjusting. They did the same thing with Cano. Also, they're working on his D. So, it's nothing unusual. BA just ripped him after the Instructs in FLA where he was playing with older prospects and did homer in his first game.
