My Greatest 100 (or so) Albums...

London Calling (Epic, 1979) The Clash. This is one of the greatest double albums ever produced. I make the double album distinction because relatively few acts have had enough good material to hold up over what was 4 sides. By late `79 the Clash had that and more, in fact they were still cooking and added the unlisted track Train in Vain just as the album was ready for mass production. Anyway, here they are at their absolute peak, visiting a variety of styles and themes and setting themselves apart from the pure punk powerhouse they had once been. There are so many best songs on here it's pretty much folly to start naming them, but Spanish Bombs, The Right Profile, Wrong `Em Boyo, and all the others express just how diverse their interests were by the time they were making this record. If you don't have it, you sorta suck, but if you do want it, you can get it at discount through the Amazon portals here.
