What's He Up To?
Things have been quiet lately out of Yankee Central. A little too quiet. Sure, we've heard the Gonzalez, Johson, Minky and now, God forbid, Loretta rumors, but public plays have never been Cashmoney Green's way. That was Tampa's tune, and Cash doesn't know it. So, you have to wonder what he is up to. Let me know your best guess. Do you think any of these rumored deals go through, or do you think something comes out of left field (not Melky!)?

I still fear that Torre wants Shea and Cash is trying to bring down his asking price in order to accommodate his manager without hamstringing the team beyond this season. That could be the reason so many names have been floated as potential candidates to play 1B.
Goldman had a quote from Will Carroll stating that they should be careful with Gonzalez because tendinitis is really a catchall diagnosis. It could be nothing, or it could be a precursor to major surgery.
Too much of risk to give up Melky.
I agree. But, if it goes down, I'm not gonna freak, cause Gonzalez would at least be a very useful piece. That said, I will be bummed if Melky gets traded.
You have better coping skills than I do. ;)
I can vent on my blog, and I am sort of intrigued with the idea of a completely Torre-proofed pen. Then we'd just need to Torre-proof the bench.
I'm fine with the idea, but not with the price.
I agree, but today's Kennedy angle is purely BS, cause he can't be traded till Feb 17th and I don't see Cash dumping his first fully supervised first rounder as the tipping point in a deal that's close in value as is.
i doubt cashman is allowing torre that much say in the makeup of the roster, although i wouldn't be surprised if that indeed was the case.
cashman needs to get creative and figure a way to get a real 1Bman onto this team.. this is where he's gonna be earning his money. newsday recently published a report that the mariners already shot down a sexson for pavano trade because of issues with taking on any of pavano's contract, but if i'm cashman, i wait that one out a bit and see if the worst GM in baseball eventually blinks. and then of course, there's the possibility of trying to pry NJ away from the nats, but i don't think that happens without the yankees giving up sanchez, and i'm not so sure i want to do that.
craig wilson needs to still be in the picture, as he'd offer more than loretta and mz combined.
Good points, anon. Got a name?
i'm actually flymick24 from the board, but i'm just too lazy to register for a username haha
You don't have to. Thanks for posting.
I thought u can trade kennedy but just put him as player to be named later and then u have 6 months to give that player traded
Kennedy signed on August 17th, so that would make February 17th the first possible day he could be traded, though there might still be a counterveining rule that he couldn't be traded until the next draft...
oh ok....i personally believe mlbtraderumors.com isnt really reliable but i guess we will find out
I have a feeling we will be losing Melky for Gonzalez but really see no way that Kennedy is in the trade.
btw, Kennedy may still be allowed to be a PTBNL on Feb 17th.
Hey any news on when Pettite will be announce press conference wise
thursday
Well, you figure if you only use him to set up Mo, and you get all the other situations handled by Farnz, Proctor, Bruney, Britton and the 6th starter. Also, getting rid of Wright helps.
btw, Melky has been raking in the Dominican Winter League. I'm sure you'll all recall how that both Cano's and Melky's Winter League performances basically forecasted their major league readiness in Winter `04 and `05.
