Favorite Comic Book Covers!

Nick Fury, Agent of Shield #12 by Barry Smith. Smith was from that group of outstanding artists who came to the biz in the late `60's and early `70's. Here in his early work, you can see a powerful Kirby/Steranko influence, as he follows them on Nick Fury. A little later, he would be the first artist for the Conan comic books, and his work seemed at that point to have a great Joe Simon/Joe Kubert influence. It was also surprisingly flowery. Although those flourishes became less suprising when he changed his name to Barry Windsor Smith. Anyway, check out his stuff, it rocked!
