My Greatest 100 (or so) Albums...

Okay, Repeat When Necessary (Swansong, 1979) Dave Edmunds, Labour of Luse (Columbia, 1979) Seconds of Pleasure (Columbia, 1980) are all related, so I'm counting them as one. The same musicians appeared on all three, and the jangly pop would not stop. The hang up as you can observe was that Edmunds was signed to Swansong and Lowe to Columbia. They waited that out for a little while, then actually called themselves Rockpile for Columbia.

Dave Edmunds was sort of a rock'n'roll purist while, Nick Lowe was at least a minor pop genius. For awhile they were the best of friends and made these three great record which feature "Girls Talk", "Cruel to be Kind" and the amazing "Heart" (which Rockpile member Billy Bremner actually sang) and scores of others. Anyway, they suddenly had a falling out and were never reunited. Just like that, all that jangly good music was all they left us. So seek it out.

As always, you can probably get these and others through the Amazon buttons.

I can't number the best songs. I was thinking about discussing the concept of anthem licenses. In other words, who's allowed to right anthemic songs and who is not!
