Favorite Comic Book Covers!

The Scorpion #1 (Atlas, 1975) by Howard Chaykin. Chaykin was one of those exciting artists who came around in the early `70's, like Barry Smith, Walt Simonson, Bernie Wrightson, Jim Starlin, and a few more, who really renewed the sense of the cinematic that had come and gone from the comics industry over the years. He was also looking for an anti-hero and here was his soldier of fortune. The Scorpion was a really cool book, but he only did two issues. I believe he brought it back under another guise for a different publisher sometime after I was out of comics. Anyway, Chaykin rocked!
