Alright, the pics of today's five movies should be here now. The Frankenstein series was Hammer's most successful, and started the whole Hammer craze back in 1958. Here we'll look at the first three starring Peter Cushing as Dr. Frankenstein, then the last two. One is missing from my collection: Frankenstein Created Woman. And one of the Hammer flicks, The Horror of Frankenstein (1970) sought to restart the series with Ralph Bates as Dr. Frankenstein. It's a good flick, but I'm not watching another version of the origin today.

Meanwhile, you'll notice that none of these Frankenstein Monsters look like Universal's monster. Given that Universal was the distributor of these flicks and as such a partner in them, their decision not to license the likeness must be questioned. A few years later they were willing to give it to Herman Munster, and to a large degree, Lurch.

Tomorrow, we'll look at the Universal Frankenstein Saga.
