Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein

Before the Knicks game, I'll be revisiting this classic, which I believe features Bela Lugosi's last Universal licensed appearance as Dracula. Later he would wander through Ed Wood films in the costume and make-up, but this was his swan song as the genuine Count and he does good work here. Lon Chaney Jr. is once again tremendous as the eternally tortured Lawrence Talbot AKA The Wolfman!

This really is a perfect mixture of comedy and horror as Abbot and Costello are funny, but the monsters remain true to their Universal identities, so we are able to believe that A and C exist in the same reality as the monsters. Cool, cool stuff. This lead to a series of A and C "meet" various monsters and villains movies, but it remains the best of the bunch . I think it will be on TV this week and I'll see if I can link it for you!
