Kenny Rogers CHEATS
MLB doesn't care. Reason to be cynical about baseball #714. Last night, Fox cameras caught Detroit's sudden ace, Kenny Rogers poised to pitch, while his pitching hand was covered with pine tar. Pine tar is an extremelt sticky substance that will material effect the way the ball comes out of your hand. Anything, including pine tar, that adds or subtracts even a speck of mass to or from a baseball's surface, will necessarily change the baseball's rotation. That's just true, so anyone who you hear essentially saying, "it didn't help him," is full of crap. It helped him plenty.
Later last night, ESPN produced film from Kenny Rogers' last two post season starts, agains the Yanks and the A's and he was sporting the same pine tar. He went from eminently hittable with nothing ever noticed on his hand, to nigh on unhittable with a load of gunk on his hand. The difference is that stark, and the cheating that apparent.
Baseball is poised to announce a new pact with the Players' Union and they aren't gonna let a little cheating in the World Series get in the way of their joy. Where have you gone, Judge Landis? And isn't it a good thing that no one is watching this piece of crap series?
