Deivi Garcia Promoted to AAA

The meteoric rise of Deivi Garcia through the Yankee system has continued. He’s starting the AA all-star game tonight and then he’s heading to Scranton. Still don’t have my computer back or I’d post video of his sick, filthy stuff. He seems to have great make up, too. Sure, he’s under 6’0” tall, but so were some Hall of Fame pitchers.  It seems more likely that the Yanks are promoting him to see if he can help this year, than moving him up to showcase him for a trade. Why not leave him where he’s dominating rather than introduce a new challenge if they want to trade him?  We’ll see, but this could be the pitcher they need to help them through the postseason.

Hope they dont trade him. Pitch him out of the BP in September. Could be a real weapon in the PS as well.

Just saw the clips of his inning and that 12-6 curve is filthy. Probably can't expect much more from him this season than a bullpen option but the stuff certainly looks the part.

Interested in people's thoughts on this NYDN article. It sort of dismisses the idea of certain pitchers not being able to handle the NYC spotlight and instead blames the coaching staff for its inability to make things work.

That’s more or less been our opinion.

Gray has admitted publicly he wasn’t an NYC guy. Eovaldi seemed like a different pitcher after learning the cutter but who knows if the ‘18 postseason was nothing but a flash in the pan? Plus, he’s always hurt.

I think guys who come through the organization tend to fare better with the whole NYC/bright lights thing.
