Yanks Sign Stephan for 800K

So, I think the Schmidt Pick just got better.  We've seen sources that say that Sauer has already agreed on a number, but apparently, Schmidt's deal allowed them to go overslot for Stephan, too.  Slot was 588, 700, so they had to come up with the extra - 5%, because they are allowed to go 5% over on the draft. Meanwhile, Stephan is a really interesting guy.  His fastball was apparently unhittable, and his slider came on at the end of the season.  He also throws a bad change up.   What you don't really see him do, is throw downhill.  He's 6'5" and I have a feeling that fixing the change and getting him to throw downhill will be what the Yanks focus on with Stephan.  He was up to 97 last summer, and one thing we can say with certainty is the Yanks have been great at helping pitchers find more velo.

UPDATE:  Surprised he cost so much given the fact that his coach had him throw 116 pitches against Oral Roberts.   He should have signed for an icepack!
