Knicks Reportedly Sign Afflalo

The Knicks may have made their first move by signing Arron Afflalo to a two year 16M deal.  The terms are not awful but this pretty much does block them from getting two bigs with their money -- unless they can create another space with their exceptions and odd pieces.  And thus, though this isn't a bad deal, it's not one I approve of because it makes it harder for the Knicks to sign two bigs.   Afflalo is basically a a 3 and D guy, though his D has reportedly declined.

I was hoping for two bigs as well, but they may have had to sign Affalo to get a big, and he's a friend of Melo's

So which big they sign will ultimately determine what I think of this.

By the way Shumpert got 40 million so I wouldn't go there.

It will be interesting to see what they can still do. They might still be able to get two bigs if they can use Calderon or someone along with the exceptions in a Sign and Trade.

Monroe to the Bucks. We might be screwed.

Using the stretch on Calderon will add about 3.5 million to the cap hit in 2016-2017, but allow more money for this season, roughly $4.0 million more. Still not enough for 2 bigs.

If Shump gets 4 years @ $10 million per, and Millisap gets $20 per for 3 years, and Carroll gets $15 per for 4 years, aside from what Thompson got from the Cavs, and Leonard and Butler got from the Spurs and Bulls respectively, the Affalo deal at 2 years, $8 million per is a steal.

I sort of suspect we're getting LeMarcus or DeAndre and then making a sign and trade, Lopez or a forward, depending on which one we get.

I hope it isn't just Lopez.

Conflicting info abounds, but Woj is reporting that the Knicks didn’t offer Monroe the max.

Hahn said the same thing Lawyer that They didn't offer max

Beck says all 4 teams offered the max. Seems like there are conflicting reposts all over the joint.

I bet it ends up just Lopez, or an overpay for Kanter. Hope I'm wrong.

Falk, his agent, says 4. I never trusted David Falk.

Larkin signed with the Nets. I liked him and thought he improved in the dwindling number of games (quarters really) I could force myself to watch.

Aldridge meets with Lakers again.

He won't meet with the Knicks because they want him to play C, which is fine with me, because they should be looking for a 5 and not a 4.
