Yanks Win

The Yanks just showed some moxie, again.  Eovaldi wasn't missing any bats in the first and gave up 2 runs.   ARod came right back with a homer in the bottom of the first.  That was big.  They put together a few other rallies that would last until Beltran would come up and fail.    I think he's heading toward the Soriano plan.  Anyway, Eovaldi had 2 good innings and 2 bad ones, with one incomplete.  He's still a work in progress.   On the other hand Dellin Betances is BACK.   98 and nasty.   Though I am a little uncomfortable with the fact that Miller seems to be the de facto closer.   He's great too, but I still want both to be available in the highest leverage situations, and not fall into a back to back 8th and 9th inning guys.   They're too dominant for that.   So far the Yanks are flawed but are showing some character and playing hard.

If A-Rod and Tex can stay on the field and produce at a high level, this team could surprise. If not...

Kruk thinks Tex is a much better hitter batting LH. He's stealing ESPN's money.

Patience is needed with Eovaldi, who is the definition of a "project." No walks is encouraging.

Murphy needs more at-bats, period, especially if McCann is going to continue to stink. And I'd give Beltran until late May before calling up one of the kids.

Adding Slade Heathcott to the OF would, probably give us an historically fast OF.

Meaning with Slade, Gardy and Ellsbury.

Beltran will be given a long leash.

He is too good of a hitter not to bounce back.

Father Time is no respecter of persons. It's why signing older players such as him to more than one season is foolish.

With a ~ $15 million guarantee next season, Beltran isn't going anywhere for a long while. That said, It is possible that something is done where Jones sees more time in RF, splitting with Young, and Beltran "sits" for a short while. But he will get a loooooonnnnnnggggg leash.

Tex to me is the biggest surprise this season. I did not expect this kind of power outburst. And his walks and Ks are about even, so he is waiting for his pitch, not wildly swinging at anything.

Sustainable? Who knows. But it is very encouraging so far.

I'm all for lots of patience for young players like Eovalid (whose talent I like) and Gregorius (whose talent I don't).

But they cannot let Beltran's money affect their thinking.

You have to pay him, but to pay with losses makes no sense. It's like paying twice.

And his defense is bad too, so for those who loves defense at the expense of offense, that should matter.

I would give him until May 15th.

At that point he can be a bench player and if he earns more PT, OK, but that is when Slade should be the everyday RF.

Let's be realistic.

They cannot count on Tex and A-Rod carrying this offense all season, so if Beltran continues to suck, they need to find other bats, and given the age on the team, they need to be young.

Yep, I'm fine with limited defense if the offensive upside is there (Refsnyder), but in Beltran's case, he's a negative on both ends right now.

Hamilton to the Rangers. I wonder how much money is changing hand between the parties.

Why do the Angels want to wash themselves from the whole Hamilton issue?

Yanks should have been on Hamilton for what it cost TX.

Unless they were sending Beltran back, heck no. Don't need another over-30, injury-prone outfielder.

He will be good for Texas, and for free, I would take him.

Truth be told, I wanted the Yankees to sign him as a FA.

Watching Beltran, it's not like he will never get any more hits. So I expect a few, and people will say he's back but we still won't know for a while For now, however, he's killing them

If Refs made the throw that Drew just did it would be like "I told you so."

There is no reason to remove Warren from the rotation for Capuano.
