Giants Offseason Pt. 8: The Wide Receiver Issue
Most would believe having Odell Beckham Jr! would prevent the Giants from really having any WR issues for the next several years because everyone else they put out there would be open. While that is sorta true, I very much prefer to build overwhelming units. Remember Strahan, Osi, Tuck, Kiwi, etc? That sort of thing. Or, even our old OL, where one of them could get hurt and a Reugamer or Shawn Andrews (who was great) could pitch in and help us run it down the other team's throat.
So, could the Giants be overwhelming with OBJ!, a healthy CRUZ, and a slow developing Randle? Sure they could, but there are two big problems. First, CRUZ is coming off a pretty serious injury and may not be fully recovered and back his old pro-bowl self by the start of the season if ever. Second, Randle has been a very frustrating guy. Sure he seemed to turn it around at the end of all three of his seasons, but that's always been in meaningless games. Now it's possible that he blossoms for a full season at age 25, like Amani Toomer did, but I think that still would make him a UFA at season's end under the new CBA.
So, as crazy as it might sound to some, WR could be perceived as a need by the Giants, and I wouldn't be surprised if they took another one in the first three rounds.
Btw, you'd assume they'd want a bigger WR than OBJ! and CRUZ, but route running and body control seem to be trumping size dominance in the WR's they go for these days. So look for guys with route running, body control and big production when trying to figure out what the Giants might do.

Phil what's your take on Cobb possibly in FA?
Start by getting Parker off the team.
How about Duron Carter ?
I think he's gonna play for the Vikings.
McAdoo connection won't help us?
