Yanks Farm: Clarkin Announces Ty Henley Has Been Promoted
Ian Clarkin just tweeted that Ty Hensley has been promoted. I'm not sure whether that means to SI or Charleston. Probably SI since he's only been making partial starts. It's good to finally get our injury plagued 2012 first rounders career out of the GCL. As you'll recall, when drafted he was and still is a prototypical, top of the rotation type, right handed power pitcher. He's a guy who could now soar in the rankings if he stays healthy. And he was one of the guys I was alluding to earlier when I said it will turn out we have more than 2 of the top 100 in our system already. Congrats to Ty!

Good point by Axisa at RAB:
Jacoby Ellsbury pinch-hit for Zoilo Almonte leading off the ninth inning and for the life of me I can not understand why he didn’t bat instead of Wheeler in the previous inning, with the tying run on base. I know Joe Girardi wanted to get him the day off, but was the half-inning off his feet that important? Ellsbury has hit lefties (128 wRC+) better than righties (98 wRC+) this year, so I hope it wasn’t a platoon thing. I dunno. That was weird.

Girardi gets a lot of praise in the media, but it is becoming apparent that he kind of sucks.
I thought it was weird that Ellsbury got a day off the same day they promoted Zoilo to platoon in right with Ichiro. Then he has both of them play even though they don't want Ichiro facing righties anymore. What the hell was he doing?
I hate the trade deadline

Today is Peter O'Brien rumor today:

This part is the scariest of the article:
As is his policy, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman won't disclose the top prospects other general managers are asking about in trade talks, but O'Brien is almost certainly in the mix. So is right-hander Luis Severino, Thursday's starter for the Thunder.
"We've got high-end stuff, without a doubt, players that other teams like," Cashman said. "And those players would be available, or will be available, in the right circumstances."

Too bad we don't have a high-end GM.
Having said that, part of the problem is that unlike the Sawx, who may trade Lester and/or Lackey, the Yankees won't trade players like that because they have to be at least mediocre at all times, despite the fact that mediocre usually breeds sports purgatory.
So they either give them too much money, or let them walk. That decision is probably, made at the top, although I'm not sure Cashman could make a good trade. He's better with taking on salary dumps.
Cashman denied that the Yanks have scheduled a private workout with Rusney Castillo.

All of those articles sound like writers speculating more than anything.
There's no one available that's worth our high end guys right now.
This doesn't sound like speculation to me, Mike. It sounds like he would move a lot for whatever he likes most:
"We've got high-end stuff, without a doubt, players that other teams like," Cashman said. "And those players would be available, or will be available, in the right circumstances."
