Martellus Bennett

Okay, been busy and haven't updated since game 2 of the Giants preseason.   While I've been away, the Yanks have continued to get by, the Rangers have been locked out, the Knicks have continued collecting over 35's and the Giants have moved to 2-1.

One of the big stories for the Giants this year has been the exceptional play of tight end Martellus Bennett.    As you'll recall, Bennett was a high ceilinged prospect who struggled to gain career traction behind Jason Witten in Dallas.   As a result he could only muster a 1 year offer from the Giants during the offseason.   It seems the change of scenery is all that was needed.   Through three games, he has 15 receptions for 185 yards, 3 touchdowns and a 12.3 ypc.    Nice.   What's more, he's been as advertised as a blocker and when our backs have run the proper plays, rather that jumping around behind the line and trying to break it wide, the running game has been back to what we were used to before last year.

Things could still go wrong as there's a lot more negative career data than positive, but it sure looks like the Giants have found a gem in the Dallas garbage bin.   Makes it just a little sweeter, doesn't it?

welcome back Phil!!!! missed you!! Do you think Phil he will be kept long term? I know Reese will have lots of choices to make, but to me he is the best talent we've had at the position in some time.
