Giants Win

The Giants are still not firing on all cylinders like some of the other good teams are doing, but they did manage a win tonight against the Rams.   The D looks porous between the 20's but was able to tighten up in the redzone and allow only 1 TD tonight.  The offense is not looking good at all, as other offenses are producing many more yards and ppg's so far.   Int's and drops play a big part and Eli is getting sacked to often under the new line configuration.  Both units should improve and showed some signs of moving toward a more competitive level tonight.   Unfortunately, Mario Manningham received a concussion and Hixon seemed to re-injure his bad knee on a tremendous TC catch.   The Giants used the short passing game fairly effectively tonight and even looked like a WCO when they threw to Hynoski.   I don't know why they're not throwing more slants, instead of middle screens.   Hopefully they'll get some things figured out.   The DL has to get their more often because when they don't, big plays are happening.  JPP was held all night, and only got half a sack.   They have to improve this week in practice because the Eagles look more ready.   Go Giants!

Did see some things I liked. The line can at least run block, and Bradshaw is very good at finding the hole. Hope all his fumble troubles are behind him. Also thought the DL did much better than the stats showed, simply because (as you alluded to) the Rams held all night long.

If the defensive backfield is going to be as weak as shown last night, Fewell is going to have to come up with some good blitzing schemes to help pressure opposing QBs. The middle of the field was wide open. Also, I know the OL can't pass protect worth a darn, but even so, am I the only one who think Eli's regressed?
