The Most Wonderful Time of the Year PT 1
Yup, the NFL draft is coming up this weekend, and the Giants head into it with 10 picks and no glaring needs, unless you count having a #1 WR that roles the safety and makes the O go a glaring need. The Giants will enter the proceedings with ten picks with 5 in the top 100. At least they might, though my latest understand is that if they do deal for Braylon Edwards, it will be during the draft. An Edwards deal would eat up 2 2009 picks and maybe 1 2010 pick. After the Edwards deal, the Giants would have 4 top 100 picks and 4 other picks to address very few roster shortages.
With their 8-10 picks, I'd like to see the Giants get one from the group of Mack, Unger and Wood. Beyond that, I'd like to see them pick up another passrushing DE (what? you say!), a running back, a db, a wide receiver, a linebacker and an OT. So that's 7 players from 8-10 picks. It's a flat draft so I don't care what order they come in, and expect Jerry to always get better than round value out of all of his picks. It should be a great weekend and I'll be excited if we make the Braylon Edwards deal or if we don't. Go Giants!

Very out of character for Eli last week, and now Tuck today along with Smith to speak of Braylon, it definitely seems there is a lot of smoke here.
Draft will be fun no matter what we do, and I expect that we will be busy.
I left out TE as something else we could pick. Hopefully not Pettigrew, though.
I agree with that, though I would prefer not with 29 if we still keep that pick. Of all the names listed do you have a preference Phil of which one, or as long as it is one you are good?
If Mack is at 29 he would be a good pick. We'll see. I trust Jerry and I'm sure he'll find Giants wherever he picks.
I agree with you Phil. Jerry's drafts have been solid, and we have no reason to believe that trend wont continue. He has added to the core and will continue to do so.
What do you think of the Carnahan pick up from KC Phil?
Bottom of the roster pre-draft depth.
Jerry is totally on the ball. Do you think part of the plan is to look at at Tackle in the draft so we can move Diehl back to guard?
Diehl will either go back to guard or RT when Kareem is done and if there's a young OLT who can step in.
Ralphie says the deal for Braylon is a no go... Not sure if I believe him.
Phil what's your gut telling you all this stuff about Bray just smoke and we will get him on Saturday?
