Boldin in Play

Seems like the trade market for #1 WR's is open. PFT is reporting that the Cardinals are shopping Anquan, while Paul Needell has reported that the Giants and Eagles are both in on him. Later, Needell said an executive with knowledge of the Giants' thinking said he didn't think the Giants were in on Boldin.

Of course they are in on Boldin, and they will be until they can get the Eagles to overpay for him. If the rumors are true and both the Giants and Eagles are also in on Braylon Edwards this could get very interesting. If the Cards or the Eagles are interested in dealing with the Giants, their best bet would be to do it soon, unless they are willing to bet that Plaxico Burress is going to get jail time rather than community service at his late March trial. If Plax doesn't get jail time, then the Giants could be out of the market for a #1 WR. What's more, it makes sense for the Giants to make the Eagles overpay for either Edwards or Boldin, then use Plax's deadline to put pressure on whichever team is left holding a disgruntled stud receiver.

On top of all of this, Braylon Edwards really wants to be a Giant. Stay tuned, it will probably all get worked out this month.

EDIT: Apparently ESPN Radio outlets in various markets are reporting that the Giants have offered this year's 1 and 3 and next year's 1 for Boldin. Bahahahahaha! If they had really done that Boldin would be a Giant already. They are clearly just allowing themselves to be used as a stalking horse.

If you had to put a % on it Phil what would you say it would be that we get one of them and who would you prefer it be?

40% and I don't care, either would help. We just need a guy who makes the other team roll coverage. Boldin is older, but Braylon drops too many passes.

Braylon also showed us how lethal he can be in person. If we make a move for Braylon and get Plax back after the fact....

I agree with you right now we have no one that requires taking the safety out of the box on running plays.

For age purposes I prefer Braylon.

Braylon would be great but we're gonna have to give up a lot for a guy with tons of drops, and we're a team that already has too many drops.

Hahahaha, who made that one up, no way in hell I would think Reese would even consider some two 1's and a 3 for Boldin..

I suspect as you do Phil someone leaked it just to drive the price up for the Birds, and for us to move in on Braylon whom appears to be who Reese wants more.. we shall see.

Holt released

So I saw. I wonder if we'll bring him in.

I agree with you and wonder the same thing. I think he would be the perfect replacement for Amani, and would not preclude us from bringing in either Braylon or Boldin if Reese feels comfortable with the cost

Mike G. says the Giants aren't interested.

I find that hard to believe we would not be, Reese must have something else in mind. If we don't trade up in the draft or for one of the WR, I think Reese will acquire more picks for the 2010 draft, which would not be a bad outcome either.
