Where Have You Gone, George Steinbrenner?

It's now, in the wake of Joe Torre's Fail and Blame Book and ARod's illegally obtained test result that we miss the classic George Steinbrenner. So what would the Boss have done with his wits about him? First, he there might not have been a Torre book And if there was, George would recount Torre's career of managerial failure before going to work for Boss and the Safe at Home Foundation would have been investigated and most likely audited. What's more that little prick Verducci would have been investigated and financially ruined. Late, George would pay for Verducci's kids to go to college, but in the here and now he would have been destroyed.


As for the ARod positive. George would have immediately forgiven ARod and called it a matter of a young man making a mistake and partaking in gamesmanship. He would concede that he, himself had made mistakes in the past. Then for the hell of it, he would pick up the tab for ARod's daughters educations.


Then he would turn his attention to Selena Roberts. He would make some really sexist and inappropriate comments about her appearance, attack her credibility, attack her background, make some more comments about her looks, have her investigated, financially ruin her, extract the identities of her sources, destroy them and perhaps have the lot of them deported. It would be fast and final. And we miss that right now.
