Rocky Has Agreed to Terms
While Chris Canty dines with DL Coach Mike Wauffle, MG is reporting that the Giants have come to terms with pass rush DT Rocky Bernard. While he's a nice addition to the DT rotation, the hope here is this does not preclude the Giants coming to terms later on with Chris Canty, who is younger and better.UPDATE: Rocky is official http://www.giants.com/news/headlines/story.asp?story_id=35726

Tom Rock says Canty is in play that the Boley/Rocky deals have no effect and that he is staying overnight to meet with the front office tomorrow..
I know. We have to make it happen.
Ralph is starting to get on board with it saying now he heard from one source, but does not know based on playing time and cost. After watching the pass rush slow down the 2nd 1/2 of the year Reese knows what won us the title and appears to be hell bent on fixing it. IMO it's a good problem to have with too many DT's. I agree we have to make it happen, and think Reese is serious despite naysayers like Ralph.
The fact that Robbins and Cofield are FA's at the end of next season puts more emphasis on getting Canty imo.
We'll see what happens over the next 24 hours. I think it's significant that Jerry called Rocky a "rotational" DT.
Good catch Phil, I did not see that... That only further strenghtens my belief that we are serious on Canty. Plus the fact Rocky will be 30 and I cannot imagine him getting longer then a 2-3 year deal, where as Canty would be at least 5 years.
