Knicks at the Deadline
With the deadline approaching fast, and the Knicks off till after the All-Star break, the rumors were flying this week that the Knicks might want rookie tall, but skinny man, Anthony Randolph from the Warriors. It's unknown if he was their sole target, or a target along with others, or a piece in a deal that would land either Amare Stoutemire with the Knicks or Warriors. Donnie Walsh is about as secretive in his business as Brian Cashman has become over the years. It's unclear what they want, other than cap room in 2010, but it is clear what they have to trade. They can trade Nate, Lee, Harrington, Thomas, Jefferies, Marbury's expiring, Malik Rose's expiring, a trade exception, and, if someone is desperate enough for Lee, Eddy Curry. In other words, they are flush with trade parts and a plan for a change. If they do decide to get even younger, perhaps they could end up with Randolph and Michael Beasley or some other combination of youngsters and picks. Maybe they'll decide to go for a star now and acquire Amare or Bosh. I guess we'll see. They can certainly make the money work with anyone, and that's refreshing. Go Donnie!
