Texcapades Coming to a Conclusion?
SI's Jon Heyman, who always seems to know what's going on with Boras clients, is now saying a Teixeira deal is imminent, but he doesn't know with which team. He thinks Boston's in first, though the Nationals have supposedly jacked their offer and may be willing to offer a ninth year. He's calling the Yankees "the wild card." Funny, I thought the Yanks finished 3rd. Anyway, it should all be clear soon enough. I had a baseball insider tell me earlier today that the Yanks want Tex, but Boras wants Tex to go to the Sox, and Manny to go to the Yanks. He also mentioned Pat the Bat Burrell as an option if neither of the first two come through. I would hope Adam Dunn would be their 3rd choice, but he didn't seem to think the Yanks were in the mix for Dunn. He also told me the Angels were trying to get Dunn or Burrell and the Dodgers were trying to get Randy Wolfe or Jon Garland. There's the update as the world waits on Teixeira.

Who cares what you want Boras. If Tex wants the Yanks, and likewise, Boras you just need to make it happen.
I still think we get one of the two Boras sluggers.
Who do you think it will be, and prefer it to be Phil?
I'd be happy with either as long as Manny is a DH. Both guys are capable of really improving the Yanks. I'd say Tex is a better fit, cause he can play D, while Manny is a better hitter.
I agree with you Phil, that either one will improve the offense for sure. I see arguments for both. I may lean slightly towards Tex, but see all the reasons why we would sign Manny, baseball wise(hitting behind Arod being the front and center) as well as the off-field, and box office reasons.
The site that had the report up last night, has another one tonight standing by last night's claim Manny is a Yankee.
I hope it is Texeira over Manny.
This way Swisher can move to one of the corner spots and either Damon or Nady get traded for a CF'er.
Sweeny Murti of WFAN suggested a Nady/IPK sway for Rowand.
Rowand is overrated, I'd rather move that package for a young catcher or OF or prospects.
Looks like Nationals are going to have highest offer out there.
Come'on Cashman..Get this guy so we are not stuck with Manny and his shenanigans.
The reason Boras would want Teixeira-Sox, Manny-Yankees is that if the Yankees get Teixeira, the market for Manny drops significantly. He'd probably end up going back to the Dodgers for a substantially under-the-market deal.
Personally, I wouldn't mind Manny in right field. He probably wouldn't be as wall-shy as Abreu and he certainly still has the arm for the position.
