No Arbitration for Abreu or Pettitte

For whatever reasons, the Yankees today failed to offer arbitration to Bobby Abreu or Andy Pettitte. Though Pettitte was always pretty likely to be back, Abreu wasn't and the Yanks have essentially passed on the two first round picks they would have gotten when Abreu signs elsewhere. Oh well, maybe there will be some non-headscratching news soon. Go Yanks?

Sounds like they were worried they would both take it and get 16M deals again. I wonder what they are saving up for.

This does not make any sense, why not get the picks for them?? Was it not a foregone conclusion that Abreu would be going to Chicago or somewhere else in the NL?

I disagree with Abraham that they are looking to save, I like you Phil wonder what is really going on here??

Cash said they didn't want someone else deciding what they would pay Abreu and Pettitte, so I guess they thought both players would accept.
