Spags Stays Put

Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo backed away from a chance to coach the Redskins and got a big raise from the Giants in the process. The new deal is for 3 years, at more than 2M per. It's unlikely that Spags will stay the full term, but it was still a strong move by the Giants. Jerry Reese was on with SAS today and said Tom Coughlin's new deal would probably be announced by the end of the week. Stability of this sort is good for championship teams. All of us remember what happened to the championship staff after SB 25. The Giants need another big offseason to keep improving, but keeping the key coaches in the house and happy is a great first step. Go Giants!

excellent first step. We cannot stand pat though, we need to make some moves in FA(not sure if we will make a big name splash or not) and have a solid draft.

In Reese we trust.

In Reese we trust is correct. Especially after reading his Q/A on Giants.com he has a plan for the draft and FA. He says we may not stay at 31, and wants to shore up some areas. Getting Kiwi and Shockey back is like FA signings. I hope Kiwi is moved back to DE especially if Stray retires.

Phil, do you think we will target one big name FA at WR or in the Secondary, considering we do have some cap room?
